Georgian Style House Plans

About these plans

What is a Georgian style house plan?

An indisputably classic look, the Georgian style makes an immediate impression with its staunch symmetry and sturdy brick exterior. Imported from 17th century England, its North American relative also boasted a certain flair for small detail. Pediments often sit atop windows and doors, while molding lends more character to impressively high ceilings within. Yet more molding is seen on the exterior, with Greco-Roman influenced dentils finishing a gabled roof, otherwise decorated above with a balustrade. The Georgian style is the British cousin to the firmly American Federal style—but they have very different accents!

• Square, symmetrical, solid • Brick exterior • Steep gabled roof with decorative elements • Molding inside and out, pediments above windows and doors, arches, shutters • High ceilings
